DAYTON, Ohio -- Herbert "Orby" Schear, former chairman and president of Liberal Markets, died here at the age of 89. estern Ohio. Liberal was recognized as a pioneer in the supermarket industry, in part due to its innovations in meat merchandising, such as self-service meats.
