LOS ANGELES -- Expo Comida Latina, a trade show dedicated exclusively to Hispanic marketing, is scheduled to be held here Nov. 3 to 5 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

According to the show's organizers, it will feature exhibits of Hispanic products geared to a Hispanic and mainstream audience; seminars geared to increasing sales to and relations with the Hispanic consumer; and cooking demonstrations.

The expo is designed for mainstream companies that want to capture a larger share of the Hispanic market; Hispanic companies that want to sell their products to mainstream retailers; and Latino producers who want to export their goods to the United States, the organizers said.

Expo Comida Latina will be held concurrently with the West Coast Sea Food Show, and attendees will be able to participate in both events.

Expo Comida Latina is a joint venture between International Trade Information, a Woodland Hills, Calif.-based organizer of trade exhibits in Latin America, and Diversified Business Communications, Portland, Maine, which produces trade expositions around the world.

Denyse C. Selesnick, president of ITI, said the event was developed "to serve the growing, lucrative Hispanic market that is all but lost in general retail food and restaurant shows and, until now, unserved by a focused event of this stature."

Expo Comida Latina is expected to feature booths sponsored by individual companies and pavilions featuring goods from different countries, including Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica, Selesnick said, with exhibitors representing the full gamut in the retail and food-service industries, including dry groceries, snacks, desserts, beverages, dairy/deli/bakery, frozen foods, perishables, prepared foods, general merchandise, equipment, and logistics and marketing services.

The expo will also include seminars on how to increase sales to Hispanic consumers; how to develop loyalty among young Hispanic consumers; and food safety. There will also be a session aimed at helping Korean grocers in Hispanic neighborhoods develop better customer relations.
