CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The food available in the new format meals/market store operated here by Boston Chicken represents a significant broadening of the typical menu in a Boston Market.
out beyond the relatively narrow confines of poultry, meat loaf and ham meals and sandwiches.
On the Boston Gardens salad/entree bar, the menu includes Oriental noodle salad, pesto pasta salad, dill pasta with chicken, orzo primavera, Dijon pasta with ham, sliced roasted pork loin, smoked salmon with pasta and grilled fresh artichokes, grilled portabello mushrooms, and such traditional salad bar ingredients as lettuce, raw vegetables, fruits and dressings.
The grab-and-go meals include ready-to-heat herb chicken al pesto, four types of lasagna, penne marinara with fresh artichokes, roast pork loin with long grain rice and green beans and five "healthy entrees."
Also included in the grab-and-go section are meal-sized salads of chopped vegetables with chicken breast or salmon, Tex-Mex turkey with chipotle pepper dressing, grilled chicken Caesar salad and Oriental chicken with ginger-sesame dressing.
Premade sandwiches include roast beef and provolone on focaccia bread, smoked turkey with herb mayonnaise on honey wheat bread, and a chicken Caesar wrap with rotisserie chicken breast and Caesar salad.
This section also includes fresh and cut-up fruit; pizzas; chilled and hot soups, such as clam chowder, chicken noodle, black bean and Indian corn chowder; breads, including baked in-store rosemary bread sticks; and such desserts as walnut and banana hummingbird cake with cream cheese icing, chocolate silk pie and caramel pecan pie.
