WholePeople.com, the recently spun-off e-commerce arm of the Whole Foods natural grocery chain, officially launched last week. The Denver-based Web site, which sells natural foods, vitamins and supplements, home products and travel packages, was developed to serve the "whole living" market, which it estimates at $230 billion.

GroceryWorks, Dallas, said it would expand its service to Fort Worth and Houston in May. The privately-owned service, which launched here in November, said it would open a 100,000-square-foot warehouse in Grapevine, serving customers in Tarrant County, and a 120,000-square-foot facility in Glenmont serving the greater Houston area. GroceryWorks has said it would open 21 fulfillment centers in 11 markets over the next 18-24 months.

Webvan, Foster City, Calif., last week named Maigread Martinez to the newly created post of vice president, marketing and strategic alliances. Martinez, formerly of Pepsi-Cola, will oversee Webvan's national marketing programs, promotional sponsorships and strategic marketing partnerships with consumer product companies. Webvan also said F. Terry Bean had been appointed as the company's senior vice president of human resources. Bean will develop human resources strategies for Webvan, which said it will employ around 900 people per market.
