Hernandez said the site will cater to the 34 million Hispanic households in the United States. Jupiter Communications, New York, said in a study last week that on-line sales over the holiday season will climb 66% to $11.6 billion, a slower growth rate than in 1999 or 1998. Jupiter's forecast was a little rosier than competitor Forrester Research, Cambridge, Mass., which predicted on-line sales this holiday season would increase 50% to about $10 billion, reports said.

Costco Wholesale, Issaquah, Wash., said last week it has teamed with Internet portal Yahoo, Santa Clara, Calif., and on-line advertising network Spinway, Sunnyvale, Calif., to offer Costco customers free Internet service. The service, made available through CD-ROMs, is available now at displays at Costco locations in the U.S. In addition, Costco said it would extend its e-commerce platform and become a preferred merchant on Yahoo.

BlueLight.com, San Francisco, said it would offer a Spanish version of its free Internet service available at Kmart locations in the U.S. BlueLight is the independent e-commerce arm of Kmart, Troy, Mich. Earlier this year, it offered free Internet service in partnership with Yahoo, Santa Clara, Calif., and Spinway, Sunnyvale, Calif.
