GLOBALNETXCHANGE, Belmont, Calif., has named Joseph E. Laughlin as chief executive officer. Laughlin has been serving as acting CEO of GNX, as well as senior vice president of Corporate Finance and Business Development of Sears, Roebuck and Co. Prior to joining Sears in July 1999, Laughlin was senior vice president and manager of distribution strategy and retail partner management at Wells Fargo Bank, San Francisco. Before that assignment, he was senior vice president of strategic planning at Wells Fargo. "Joe has done an incredible job in orchestrating a successful start for GlobalNetXchange," said Bruce Johnson, organization and systems director at Carrefour SA, Paris, and a member of the GlobalNetXchange board of directors. "He has demonstrated the key management skills necessary to lead GNX to become the premier worldwide retail electronic marketplace." Laughlin's experience in the area of strategy, partnering and deal-making is viewed as a strong asset. In his recent position at Sears, he was responsible for business development, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and treasury functions. Laughlin has also concentrated on the application of technology to solve business problems.

EXCHANGEBRIDGE, Atlanta, has signed Stockholm, Sweden-based consumer goods distributor Christian Hallberg Scandinavia AB. The deal gives eXchangeBridge its first overseas customer as well as an alliance partner for introducing its Internet-based supply chain solutions throughout Europe. eXchangeBridge is a provider of e-commerce solutions for the supply chain of the consumer packaged goods industry. Christian Hallberg Scandinavia is a broker and distributor of packaged goods in European markets with offices in Sweden and Russia. "This technology does not yet exist in Europe, but it is very much needed," said Johan Hallberg, senior vice president of the distributing company. "The markets are very complex, with multi-tiered levels of suppliers and retailers. eXchangeBridge's system is very successful at centralizing and synchronizing transactions -- that is what is wanted."

RGF ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP, West Palm Beach, Fla., is now offering a business-to-business on-line web site for its clients and distributors. The site includes RGF's product lines and technologies, as well as an archive of published articles, engineering and design data, and news pertinent to the environmental industry. A special features include the Enviro-Geek and a "Beat the Geek" environmental trivia contest. RGF consists of six companies involved in the design, engineering, manufacturing, sales, installation and service of pollution prevention and sanitation equipment for air, water and food.
