IDDA PICKS CONTESTANTS FOR CAKE CONTEST

MADISON, Wis. -- The International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association here has selected three cake decorators to compete in its second annual cake decorating challenge, June 1 to 3, at the IDDA Dairy-Deli-Bake '97 in Orlando, Fla.

Each contestant will be required to decorate enough cakes to fill an 8-foot display case, create a wedding cake and complete three special-event cakes.

The three contestants will receive an expense-paid trip to Orlando to the three-day IDDA event. Trophies, along with a complete set of decorating tips, bags and other decorating equipment ,will be given to the winners. The trio will be competing daily at the ShowPlace area of the IDDA show floor.

IDDA's first cake-decorating challenge, launched at the request of its members, was held last June at the association's Dairy-Deli-Bake '96 seminar and expo in Minneapolis. Last year, Sherry L. Lofquist of Elmer's County Market, Escanaba, Mich., took first place; Nyla Stromberg of Market Place Foods, Minot, N.D., captured second place; and James E. Miskowic of McGlynn's Bakery, Minneapolis, came in third.
