ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Edith Garrett, longtime president of the International Fresh-cut Produce Association, has announced she will leave the organization at the end of the year to pursue new professional and personal opportunities.

10 years to "start a fresh chapter in my life and explore new challenges, including the possibility of launching my own consulting business."

Garrett is credited with helping IFPA attain numerous goals during her tenure, including doubling the association budget; expanding its membership base by 45%; and creating a strong technical support program.

She also was instrumental in doubling IFPA's Annual Conference revenues, increasing membership income by 43% and doubling publication sales, according to board chairman Craig Delaney, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Ready Pac Produce.

Prior to joining IFPA, Garrett worked for eight years as the director of environment and quality assurance for South Bay Growers, a Florida lettuce and celery grower/shipper/processor.
