FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- During its Global Summit, held here last week, Chicago-based IGA honored five of its members with its annual International Retailer of the Year awards.
> Each of the winners has grown its business by becoming an integral part of the communities it serves. They all participate in community outreach programs and host many of IGA's promotional events that often involve community participation.
These independents also are confronted with competition from the big chains and are fighting to keep their share of food sales. With the help of IGA and the recognition of the IGA name worldwide, these retailers excel in food retailing. They are growing their businesses by maintaining IGA's high standards, offering quality products and services, and making their communities better places in which to live.
