WASHINGTON -- Food Marketing Institute and International Foodservice Distributors Association presented the 2004 Thomas Jefferson Awards for Distinguished Service to Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., and Sen. Don Nickles, R-Okla., for their legislative efforts in support of issues of importance to the food-distribution industry.

ion, Thomas Jefferson Awards were presented to 48 senators and 225 representatives "who have voted consistently in support for sound fiscal policy and other free-market principles crucial to the health of the food-distribution industry and the nation's economy as a whole," FMI and IFDA said in a prepared release.

The award program is conducted every two years. The Thomas Jefferson Awards for Distinguished Service are given to one senator and one representative in recognition of their leadership. The other awards were based voting records, which can be found online at www.ifdaonline.org and www.fmi.org.
