BOSTON - At the 24th annual International Boston Seafood Show, the catch included tons of new products, a boatload of value-added items and even some new species of fish. An estimated 15,000 to 16,000 people from 80 countries attended the show, which featured a remarkably large exhibition floor. IBSS and Seafood Processing America attracted 846 exhibitors, a 6% increase over last year's total. When they weren't checking out the exhibits, attendees brushed up on their industry know-how at the educational seminars that covered timely topics such as the future of seafood sales in mainstream supermarkets. The show's annual new-products competition drew a record 55 entries. Judges declared Bistro Fresh's salmon with kashmiri curry sauce the best new retail product.
