MINNEAPOLIS -- Irradiated frozen beef patties manufactured by Huisken Meats, Chandler, Minn., have been delivered to stores in this market area and other areas around the country, marking another key phase in the rollout of irradiated beef products to supermarkets. Huisken joined with San Diego-based The Titan Corporation's wholly-owned subsidiary, SureBeam Corporation, which uses electron beams to pasteurize the meat. The technology is the only one of the three government-approved processes that does not rely on radioactive elements. The products will be sold in two-pound cartons under the company's Huisken and Taste Club brand names.
