NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- John Maher of Mott's Inc. died here July 27 of complications from a cerebral hemorrhage.

gh the acquisition of Rose/Holland House, and served as manager of trade development at Mott's until 1995. He began his career at Salada Foods and spent 15 years there, before he was hired by Rose/Holland House in 1968. Maher served as vice president of sales for Rose/Holland House from 1970 to 1982.

Although retired in 1995, he continued as a full-time consultant, serving as an "industry front man" among his trade contacts that spanned three generations.

"John was known as the unspoken patriarch of the Mott's family -- fondly known around here as Mr. Mott's -- and earned a well-deserved reputation for his dedication and devotion to the company," said Jeff Black, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Mott's North America, headquartered in Stamford, Conn.
