Thunderbirds Are Go!

NEW YORK -- On Feb. 27, A&E Home Video here will release its first episodes of "Thunderbirds," the mid-1960s British children's TV series.

Created by producer Gerry Anderson of "Space: 1999" and "UFO," "Thunderbirds" is a futuristic adventure (set in 2065) chronicling the exploits of the International Rescue team.

The series is filmed in "Supermarionation," a form of puppetry likely unfamiliar to many children today -- but not to parents with fond memories of the "Thunderbirds are go!" rallying cry.

"Thunderbirds," originally telecast in 1965-66, still maintains an active fan base as well as an informative Web site at Thunderbirdsonline.com.

The episodes will be released in two boxed sets on both VHS and DVD. Each VHS boxed set will contain three episodes on three volumes, while each DVD set will feature six episodes on two volumes.

The S.R.P. for each VHS three-pack is $29.95; each DVD two-pack is $39.95.
