KAGRO'S KIM SUMMONED TO APPEAR IN L.A. COURT

LOS ANGELES -- David Kim, president of the National Korean American Grocers Association here has been ordered to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court today for an examination of KAGRO's financial records.

Emerald said it contracted for rebate programs with manufacturers but was never paid by KAGRO, leading to a 1997 lawsuit in which the court ordered KAGRO to pay Emerald $199,820, including $152,795 in principal costs plus $47,025 in interest -- amounts Emerald said have still not been paid.

Kim told SN the matters in dispute occurred during the term of a predecessor and "have nothing to do with me."
