NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. -- Netgrocer.com here last week said that it has promoted Lisa Kent to president, replacing Jim Chambers, who resigned to pursue other opportunities. Kent, 37, previously served as vice president and chief merchandising officer for the company, which offers Internet shopping and delivery for nonperishable goods.

Chambers, who was named chief executive officer for NetGrocer in January, told SN he was leaving to assume CEO duties with a software company. Chambers helped arrange the $30 million investment in NetGrocer made earlier this year by Parmalat USA, Wallington, N.J.

Kent joined NetGrocer in June. She previously served as executive director of worldwide e-ventures for the baby and kids division of Johnson & Johnson, New Brunswick. Chambers added that Fred Horowitz, former president and co-founder of NetGrocer, has also left the company.

In unrelated news, NetGrocer said it has made an agreement with Yahoo, Santa Clara, Calif., to become a featured merchant on the Yahoo Shopping portal on the World Wide Web. The deal provides NetGrocer with exposure on one of the most-visited sites on the Internet, Chambers said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
