ATLANTA -- The Kroger Co.'s division here is introducing a summer "Kroger Kids Culinary Camp" at its School of Cooking.
.m., according to a brochure produced by Kroger and distributed in stores here. The classes are scheduled for the week of June 16, and will repeat the week of June 24.
According to the brochure, the Kid's Camp will provide "hands- on" experiences for children including "challenging recipes" that will "enhance cooking skills." Each day is devoted to a different topic. Monday is breakfast, when a registered dietitian is scheduled to offer recipes for Spanish egg white frittata, fruit shakes and homemade fresh bagels with assorted toppings.
Tuesday's featured topic is "great lunches," when gazpacho, fresh salad with seasoned croutons and chocolate surprise cupcakes are on the menu, and the 5 a Day for Better Health program will be discussed.
Healthy snacks are scheduled for Wednesday, and include granola, summer salsa, toasted tortilla chips and no-cook kabobs. Thursday will focus on dinners for the family, with baking powder biscuits, parmesan potato pie, chicken stir-fry and no-bake chocolate graham cracker pie. Friday's topic is "healthy-happy" desserts, with a speaker from the American Heart Association scheduled to appear. Desserts include banana-fudge ripple cake, lemon mousse and blueberry torte.
