CINCINNATI -- Kroger here last week introduced a new credit card that allows customers to earn points for savings on groceries.

Kroger-owned stores and fuel centers, plus three extra points per dollar spent on Kroger private-label products. Customers earn $10 in discounts for use at Kroger stores for each 1,000 points accumulated. It also doubles as a discount card.

Rewards are mailed to customers' homes quarterly.

The card, which was developed in partnership with the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, will initially be available in the Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio, markets. The company said it plans to expand the card to additional markets next year.
