NEW YORK -- Preregistration attendance for the Licensing 2002 International Show scheduled June 11 to 13 here has shown an 18% increase from last year, said Charles Riotto, president, International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association (LIMA), also here. Strong movie properties in "Star Wars," "Spider-Man" and "Scooby-Doo" and the continued depth of corporate-brand licensing will help propel growth in the licensing industry overall this year, Riotto told SN. Opportunities in health and beauty care items, back-to-school products and impulse items like small toys, in addition to continued demand for licensed food and beverage products, will aid licensing growth in supermarkets, he said. "It's something supermarket owners should really keep their eye on," he said.
