Survey: Third-Party Service Grows

MINNEAPOLIS -- Brand marketers' use of third-party merchandisers has grown 12% in the past year, according to a survey from Pimms Inc. here. According to Pimms' "2nd Annual Survey of Merchandising Service Practices," use of merchandising services is on the rise across all major trade classes. Spar Acquires Marketing Force

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- The Spar Group here has beefed up its in-store merchandising service offerings by acquiring Marketing Force, an in-store merchandising, service and product demonstration business formerly owned by Advo, Windsor, Conn. Marketing Force will be merged with Spar Marketing, Minneapolis, the company's existing in-store merchandising arm, as Spar Marketing Force, said Donald Berry, president of the Minneapolis unit.
