Benefit Group Taps Pfotenhauer

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Pharmacy Direct Network, the pharmacy benefit-management company launched by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, has named Robert P. Pfotenhauer as its chief executive officer. Pfotenhauer, a 20-year veteran of the managed-care industry, was president and chief executive officer of Group Health Association, Washington, D.C., a health maintenance organization for seven years. Before joining GHA, Pfotenhauer was a regional vice president of Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound, Seattle.

Michigan Group Taps CEO

LANSING, Mich. -- The Michigan Pharmacists Association has selected Larry D. Wagenknecht as its new chief executive officer. Wagenknecht, a pharmacist with MPA since 1983, was most recently executive director. Wagenknecht replaces Louis Sesti who left MPA in January to join PCS Health Systems, Phoenix, as vice president of managed care.

New Jersey Director to Retire

TRENTON, N.J. -- Alvin Geser, executive director of the New Jersey Pharmaceutical Association, will retire this fall, after serving the association for 33 years, the longest tenure of any state pharmacy association executive.

Wyeth-Ayerst Adds VP

PHILADELPHIA -- Marily Rhudy has been appointed vice president for public affairs at Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories here, a new position. Rhudy, a former community pharmacy owner, had been assistant vice president for pharmacy relations.
