Aboff had a lengthy career at Fairchild Publications, New York, SN's parent company. He joined Fairchild in 1952 in an editorial capacity at DNR, then moved briefly to a similar capacity with HFD, now known as HFN, before joining SN, first as associate editor, then as managing editor.

He was in the Army Air Corps during World War II, on the board of the NAACP and a president of the Weequahic Community Council, Newark, N.J. He moved here about 15 years ago, and is survived by his widow, Ruth, two sons and two brothers.
