ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- The seventh annual convention of the National Association of Fresh Produce Processors here will be held this year at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort, Palm Desert, Calif., March 27 to 30.

The theme this year is "Cutting Loose," chosen by conference organizers because fresh cuts are the fastest growing segment of the produce industry. The show will feature some 160 exhibits representing equipment and services designed specifically for the fresh-cut industry. Also included is a seminar program covering such topics as effective marketing strategies at retail, microbiology and food safety, innovations in packaging and potential regulatory issues surrounding precuts.

Results will be released from a new industry survey currently under way designed to provide baseline data on the structure, growth and market segmentation of the fresh-cut industry. For additional information, contact Robin Sprague or Shelley Sapone at NAFPP, (703) 836-4739.
