NASH FINCH EARNINGS CLIMB AS SALES HIT RECORD LEVELS

MINNEAPOLIS -- Nash Finch Co. here said sales hit record levels in the second quarter and half ended June 15. Sales rose 8.7% to $735.2 million for the 12-week quarter and 9.2% to $1.4 billion for the 24-week half. Net earnings rose 4.2% to $6.1 million for the quarter and 4.2% to $8.9 million for the half. Nash Finch said the gains were due to the acquisition of Military Distributors of Virginia

MINNEAPOLIS -- Nash Finch Co. here said sales hit record levels in the second quarter and half ended June 15. Sales rose 8.7% to $735.2 million for the 12-week quarter and 9.2% to $1.4 billion for the 24-week half. Net earnings rose 4.2% to $6.1 million for the quarter and 4.2% to $8.9 million for the half. Nash Finch said the gains were due to the acquisition of Military Distributors of Virginia and new independent wholesale accounts, which outweighed the revenue loss from the convenience store distribution businesses it sold in December.
