MINNEAPOLIS -- As a result of additions to its wholesale division, Nash Finch Co. here said it had record sales and increased earnings for the first quarter ended March 22.

sales increase was due primarily to the company's acquisition of Super Food Services, Miamisburg, Ohio, in November and of T.J. Morris Co., Statesboro, Ga., in July. In addition, he said, revenue growth from the company's military commissary division, which is part of the wholesale segment, "continued to exceed expectations."

Flaten also said sales to new independent wholesale accounts that have been added since the first quarter of last year contributed to the increases.
