DENVER -- The National Cattlemen's Beef Association here has announced the launch of two new resources for retailers: a "Beef Training Camp" educational course, and a Web site featuring research, marketing programs and other tools.

such as consumer trends, cooking methods and retail food safety practices. In addition, retailers participating in the course now have the opportunity to request a supplementary on-site seminar through the NCBA.

Funded by the Beef Checkoff Program, the Web site, www.BeefRetail.org , offers online access to market research, such as consumer and channel trends, weekly wholesale prices by sub-primal and meat case merchandising programs such as the NCBA's "Beef Made Easy." Overviews of the NCBA's Beef Value Cuts and Hot Foods Deli programs highlight the organization's other retailer-focused initiatives.

Retailers can also download recipes created by the Beef & Veal Culinary Center, and order the Beef & Veal Ad Planner, which includes two CD-ROMs of high- and low-resolution images for use in circulars and in-store marketing materials.

"This site provides retailers, large and small, with the opportunity to learn more about beef programs available to them," Randy Irion, director of retail marketing for the NCBA, said in a statement. "Integration of various programs and promotional opportunities arm retailers with an advantage."

Established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill, the Beef Checkoff Program funds industry efforts to build demand for beef. The checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products.
