BOSTON -- The New England Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association hit a record this year in drawing attendees from outside the region to its New Horizons Conference & Exposition here last month at the World Trade Center.

or, of the Braintree, Mass.-based NEDDA. Richmond, Va.-based Ukrop's Super Markets was also represented, she said.

Supermarket chains in the Northeast also sent a larger contingent of people to this year's show than they have in previous years. Indeed, Walker estimated that the roster of attendees from major New England chains was twice as long as last year's.

"That speaks well for our area retailers. They saw the value of sending their trainers and supervisors. They were looking for information on HMR," Walker said.

NEDDA's program this year, with an expanded lineup of educational seminars, focused heavily on home-meal replacement.

Of the 4,620 attendees this year, 47% were retailers, Walker said. "We'll continue with HMR sessions next year and we'll be covering some other issues that affect the perimeter, fresh departments," she said.

Next year's NEDDA conference and exposition is set for April 28 to 29, 1998, and will also be held at the World Trade Center here.
