RANDOLPH, Mass. -- The NorthEast Fresh Foods Alliance announced the postponement of its 25th anniversary expo, scheduled for July 16 and 17 at Boston's World Trade Center, and the elimination of the executive director position, held by Andrea Walker for the past 22 years. Both moves come with a restructuring of the trade organization, and are a reflection of consolidation within the industry, NEFFA President Paul Sullivan told SN. Merging NEFFA with another regional trade organization is a possibility, but Sullivan stressed that all conversations on that subject are preliminary. Industry sources have told SN that some of the exploration has been with Arlington, Mass.-based New England Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association. Sullivan, who is also national field sales manager at Norseland Inc., a Stamford, Conn., cheese importer, did not name any organizations. Officials at the New England Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association could not be reached for comment.
