LOS ANGELES -- Matt Lasorsa, senior vice president of marketing at New Line Home Video here, recently announced staff promotions in his department.

ine in 1998, she worked in retail marketing at Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Burbank, Calif.

Laura Abele, who has been promoted to marketing manager, will handle the marketing of rental, sell-through and DVD releases, as well as oversee Web-related marketing pertaining to home video. She came to New Line in 1998 from a position at the Jim Henson Co. of Los Angeles.

Jeff Platt has been promoted to director of advertising and research, with responsibility for all trade and consumer media planning. He joined New Line in 1997 following a stint as video co-op advertising manager for the Warner/Elektra/Atlantic Corp. division of Burbank, Calif.-based Warner Bros.

Amy Gorton, who has been promoted to director of public relations, is responsible for orchestrating national publicity campaigns and for overseeing and distributing all publicity materials for trade and consumer media. She came to New Line in 2000 after serving as director of public relations for Feld Entertainment of Vienna, Va.

"These individuals form the nucleus of a strong marketing unit at New Line Home Video that continues to deliver aggressive cutting-edge marketing programs in all segments of the marketplace," Lasorsa said in his announcement. "With exciting movies in the pipeline, and due to the dynamic nature of the home video industry, the marketing team will be called upon to provide the essential formula for success in 2001 and beyond."
