ndy Company here has announced the purchase of Shaker Country Meadowsweets, Inc., a company that makes natural herbal Tea Drops and herbal candies.

Flavors for the Tea Drops and herbal candies include Rosemary Tangerine, Apricot Almond, Lemon Anise, Ginger, Orange Bergamot, Lemon Mint, and Strawberry Rose Geranium. An additional flavor, Horehound, is available in candy form only.

All products are packaged in 2.5 ounce antique boxes and bags and have a suggested retail price range of $3.49 and $3.89.

Wyman's Introduces Fruit Confections

MILBRIDGE, Maine -- Wyman's here has extended its line of products with the introduction of Crafted Fruit Confections, a dried fruit snack that is high in natural fruit content and fruit flavor.

"We saw an opportunity to market improved flavor fruit confections," said Ed Flanagan, president and CEO of Wyman's. "Whether purchased in bulk or in retail packs, we think we have a winner."

The candies, made with real fruit centers and covered in a confectionery coating, are available in several flavors, including wild blueberry, red raspberry, cranberry, and Granny Smith apple. Suggested retail price is $2.49 for a 3-ounce package.

Just Born Tunes Up For Music Madness

BETHLEHEM, Penn. -- Just Born here, makers of Mike and Ike, Hot Tamales, and Marshmallow Peeps, has announced a national consumer promotion with Atlantic Records called, "Music Madness!"

The promotion offers music and candy fans a chance to win over 3 million music-related prizes, including Music Cash, Atlantic Records' new "The Absolute Hits" CD featuring Hootie & the Blowfish, Edwin McCain, Sugar Ray and other artists, plus a chance to win an appearance in a music video by entering a national sweepstakes.

The promotion will begin nationwide on April 1 and end on December 31. The grand prize winner will be announced on or about March 1, 2000.

To participate in the Music Madness promotion, consumers can enter via official entry forms in specialty marked boxes of Just Born candy packages, mail-in offers, and tear pads. Point-of-purchase displays, pallet displays, and shelf-danglers will also support the promotion in retail stores.

Ford Gum Debuts Novelty Bubble Gum

VERNON HILLS, Ill. -- Ford Gum and Machine Company here has announced that a new line of novelty bubble gum products will hit retail stores during this quarter.

The items include a bubble gum wallet, lunch box, fortune cookie, briefcase and jewels. Suggested retail price varies by item, with the fortune cookie retailing at 59 cents, and the briefcase at $3.99.

"Ford Gum has been an industry leader in the bulk vending business for over 60 years," said Steve Gold, Ford Gum's senior vice president of sales and marketing. "Now we are extending that experience and manufacturing expertise to offer the same high quality bubble gum products for the retail trade."
