Lavazza Pours Into New England

NEW YORK -- Lavazza Premium Coffees Corp. here has expanded distribution of its Milano Roast Premium Coffee, Caffe Espresso and Caffe Decaffeinato coffees to supermarkets in New England.

Da Vinci Draws New Flavorings

SEATTLE -- Da Vinci Gourmet here has introduced several new coffee flavoring products.

Its new French Vanilla syrup is available in 750-ml and 187-ml sizes. It can be used to make French Vanilla coffee drinks or combined with other flavorings to make unique drinks.

Da Vinci Gourmet variety packs containing vanilla, hazelnut, raspberry and almond flavors have also been introduced. Available in both Classic and Light Sugar-Free versions, the flavors are packaged in 187-ml/6.3-ounce bottles.

Coors Taps Into Limited Edition

GOLDEN, Colo. -- Coors Brewing Co. here has issued a special limited edition Original Coors, "The Last Real Beer," which features an old-fashioned "church key" can opener.

Nov. 1, Coors began shipping the special 24-twin-stack package that includes a nostalgic church key -- a can opener with a piercing triangular point at the end. Each package contains at least two versions of historic cans adorned with authentic graphics of yesteryear. The cans require an opener. The special edition is expected to be available for four weeks.

'UFO's' Goes Into Orbit for Kids

VERONA, Pa. -- American Beverage Corp. here has launched UFO's, a novelty drink targeted at children, containing suspended bits of colored and flavored gelatin. UFO's is packaged in four 10-ounce, uniquely-shaped "spaceship" bottles to a box. It is available in Galactic Grape-Orange and Planetary Punch flavors.

The company is also increasing distribution of its other children's novelty drinks, including Sour Blast, a drink that tastes like Sweet Tarts candy.

A division of Royal Bols/Wessanen, a Dutch conglomerate that also owns the Crowley and Marigold dairies and the Helluva Good Cheese Co., American Beverage Corp. also manufactures the Daily line of cocktail mixes.

Pabst to Shut Milwaukee Spigot

MILWAUKEE -- Citing declining sales, Pabst Brewing Co. here said last month it will mothball its brewery here by the end of the year, and transfer production to Stroh Brewing Co. of La Crosse, Wis., formerly G. Heileman Brewing Co.

Pabst said the Stroh plant will continue to produce its brands, and Pabst will continue to operate plants in Texas and Washington state, as well as using contract brewers. Pabst will keep a small staff at its Milwaukee brewery in the hope that it may someday be able to resume production here, where the company was established 150 years ago.
