Organic Promo Materials Unveiled
nic Foods Production Association of North America has new materials available to help retailers develop promotions for Organic Harvest Month in September.
Generic advertising, merchandising and promotional materials are designed around the theme, "Ready, Set, Go Organic." The theme is printed on banners, tote bags, aprons, buttons, product labels and T-shirts. Reproducible camera-ready art, brochures and bag stuffers are also available. United Forms Radish Committee
ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- The United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association here has formed a committee to develop programs to educate the produce industry on proper packaging, handling and storage techniques of radishes. Composed of radish growers and shippers, the committee will focus on the importance of keeping cello radishes at 34 degrees Fahrenheit -- "the most critical component of maintaining radish quality," according to a written statement announcing the formation of the committee.
The committee also will work to educate retailers on proper display to ensure adequate air flow and temperature control and will increase efforts to educate retailers that cello radishes should not be sprayed with water.
The committee "includes growers and shippers of 85% of the nation's cello radish production, [and] it is our responsibility to educate each other, and every person who handles radishes, to ensure that a quality item reaches the consumer," said the committee's chairman, Jim Wiers, who is also president of WiersFarm/Dutch Maid Produce, Willard, Ohio.
