Other ranked brands include Unilever's Impulse and Chloe, and Revlon's Charlie and Fire & Ice.

Based here, the U.S. division of the French company Coty dominates this market, with a combined share of 20.5%. Unilever has 10.8% and Revlon has 10.5%.

Walgreens Reports Sales Rise

DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Walgreen Co. here reported that sales for the second quarter of fiscal 1997, ended Feb. 28, increased 13.3% to $3.6 billion. For the first six months, net sales rose 13.4% to $6.7 billion. Pharmacy sales advanced 17.5% for the quarter as well as for the first six months.

Nivea Line Adds Moisturizer

NORWALK, Conn. -- Beiersdorf's newest product in the Nivea Visage face care line is Nivea Visage Triple Benefit Moisture Lotion. It is a multibenefit moisturizer that provides protection against moisture loss, damaging ultraviolet rays and free radicals.

The product comes in a 3-ounce white plastic bottle and will be sold in supermarkets for under $10. In-store promotion will include a 21-piece introductory shelf display with full and trial sizes of Nivea Visage Triple Benefit Moisture Lotion.

Gillette to Relaunch White Rain

BOSTON -- Gillette Co. will relaunch the White Rain hair care brand with product reformulations, updated packaging, larger packaging sizes and new pricing. The White Rain brand will now be divided into two sub-brands: White Rain Classic Care and White Rain Collections.

Collections shampoo, conditioner and Two In One stockkeeping units in 13.5-ounce bottles replace the 11-ounce bottles used for Essentials, Exotics, Solutions and Plus products. Completely redesigned packaging features the Collections graphic under the White Rain logo. All Collections SKUs have been line-priced at $2.29. The number of Collections SKUs decreases from 34 to 30.

Classic Care, formerly the White Rain basic brand, will undergo minimal changes. The size of the bottles and the $1.29 suggested retail price remain the same. Product packaging will feature a new Classic Care graphic under the White Rain logo. Plus for Kids and Baby Shampoo in 15-ounce bottles replace the existing 11-ounce bottles. The number of Classic Care SKUs decreases from 34 to 29.

Ricola Introduces Cough Syrups

MORRIS PLAINS, N.J. -- Ricola, the No. 1-selling herbal cough drop manufacturer, is introducing two flavors of throat syrup, Natural Herbs and Natural Cherry & Herbs. These liquid oral analgesics are a line extension to Ricola's natural herbal cough- and throat-drop line. Syrups will be bottled in recyclable plastic bottles with two safety seals and childproof safety caps.

Both Natural Herbs and Natural Cherry & Herbs are available in 4-ounce bottles. The suggested retail price is $4.99 per bottle. Shipments will begin in July.

J&J Supports Wildlife Fund

WASHINGTON -- As part of a partnership between Band-Aid manufacturer Johnson & Johnson and the international conservation organization World Wildlife Fund, based here, Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages will feature images of endangered species.

WWF will receive a contribution for each box sold. Johnson & Johnson hopes to raise $100,000 to help WWF protect endangered species.
