a Home Entertainment here has dropped "Armageddon" into its fourth-quarter sell-through lineup, with the summer hit streeting Nov. 13 with a Sept. 29 order date. At the same time, the studio will release its remake of "The Parent Trap" Dec. 8, with an Oct. 27 order date.

"The Rescuers," which had previously been scheduled for a November release, will now street Jan. 5, a Buena Vista official said. Both "Armageddon" and "The Parent Trap" will have a suggested retail price of $22.99.

"Armageddon," starring Bruce Willis, had a box-office total approaching $200 million and will street Friday the 13th. It will be supported by a multimillion-dollar marketing campaign, including national television, cable, print and radio advertising. Grand prize in an "End-of-the-World" sweepstakes will be an offer to pay off consumers' taxes and parking tickets in 1998.

'The Parent Trap" did more than $56 million at the box office. Besides a national ad campaign, the title also will be promoted in a Thanksgiving weekend Parade Magazine insert. There will be a $2 instant consumer rebate offer with the purchase of the title and one of the following: "Mr. Magoo," "Rocketman" and "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride."

'Cats' Curls Up With Schweppes

NEW YORK -- PolyGram Video will support the home video release of the Broadway musical "Cats" with a multimillion-dollar marketing and advertising campaign that will include a cross-promotion with Schweppes.

The title has a street date of Oct. 27, an order date of Oct. 8 and a suggested retail price of $24.95. Consumers will be offered a $5 mail-in rebate with the purchase of "Cats" and Schweppes products. Other tie-in partners include Continental Airlines, Discover Card and Iams Cat Foods.

"Over 15 million bottles of Schweppes product will communicate the 'Cats' $5 mail-in rebate offer as well as on more than 50,000 point-of-sale displays -- all of which will create a tremendous savings and appeal for supermarket shoppers," said Ken Graffeo, PolyGram's senior vice president of marketing.
