y Faire here and Giant Eagle, Pittsburgh, are discussing whether the retailer will be the primary sponsor of Baby Faire's Pittsburgh show this year.

Though the sponsor of the show, which will be held in October, remains undecided, Baby Faire is hoping Giant Eagle, which has sponsored the show for the past two years, will again take the lead.

Primary sponsors receive their logo on a variety of promotional materials in conjunction with Baby Faire from broadcast to billboards, said Kim Whittaker, Baby Faire president.

Star Market, Cambridge, Mass., will participate in Boston's Biggest Baby Faire as an associate sponsor.

Locations and dates for the 1997 national Baby Faire tour are: Washington, March 8 and 9; Boston, April 5 and 6; Pittsburgh, Oct. 18 and 19; and Chicago, Nov. 8 and 9. Baby Faire recently announced that Toys 'R' Us will be the primary sponsor of the Washington, Boston and Chicago expositions.

Gerber Unveils Its New Label

NEW YORK -- Gerber Products Co. unveiled its new baby food label at a press conference here last month.

The updated label will give grocery retailers a more unified and consistent baby food section, said J. Patrick Doyle, vice president and general manager at the Fremont, Mich.-based company.

The new design incorporates the manufacturer's well-known Gerber baby logo with larger product names and stage numbers.

Spill-Proof Cup Is Introduced

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. -- E.S Robbins Corp. here has designed a virtually spill-proof drinking cup for young children.

Available now, the No Drippy Sippy cup has an hourglass shape that allows youngsters to hold the cup. The weight of the liquid at the bottom centers the cup, so it is less likely to spill.

The 6-ounce cup comes in a variety of bright colors. It carries a suggested retail price between $2.79 and $2.99.

Podee Offers Hands-Free Bottle

SAN DIEGO -- Podee here has introduced Li'l Moo, a hands-free baby bottle.

The product, designed to help busy parents, comes with an attachment strap that fastens the bottle to car seats, strollers or hand carriers. It carries a suggested retail of $7.95.

A line of plastic tubing reaches into the bottle forming a straw-like feature to the nipple.

Safety Seat for Carts Rolls Out

WASHINGTON, Mich. -- Carrousel Concepts here has introduced a product to make riding in shopping carts safer for infants and children.

Baby-Hold-Me-Safe is a specially designed padded safety seat that secures the child in the cart with an adjustable nylon strap in such a way that the child's head is protected from direct contact with the cart handle.

It now is available nationally, and carries a suggested retail price of $29.99.

Muppet Products Line Debuts

APPLETON, Wis. -- Jim Henson Productions, New York, and Presto Products here have introduced a new line of Muppet Babies infant products.

The licensing deal gives Presto the rights to manufacture private-label baby wipes, bottle liners and cotton swabs featuring the Muppet Babies.
