A sweepstakes called "Golf the Irish Links" gives consumers a chance to win a seven-day golf tour for two to play at five of Ireland's great links. The promotion will run through September, and adult consumers can enter by completing an entry form on Killian's Irish Red point-of-sale materials at local retail stores.

Six grand prize winners, drawn Sept. 6, will receive round-trip air transportation for two, six nights lodging and greens fees at five golf courses in Ireland. In addition to the trip, participants have a chance to win 10,000 Taylor Made drivers and other merchandise. Retailers can build displays with golf-themed POS. On- and off-premise sales will be driven via Killian's "Tour the Irish Links" color banners, dominators, table tents and counter cards.

Michelob 'Scrambles' $1 Million

ST.LOUIS -- Michelob and Michelob Light here are giving consumers a chance to win $1 million in cash and more than 1,000 golf-themed prizes in their summer promotion called, "1999 Michelob $1,000,000 Scramble."

To win the grand prize of $1 million, consumers, where legal, can collect the letters M-I-C-H-E-L-O-B printed inside packages of 12-ounce Michelob and Michelob Light bottles. Consumers also have a chance to win Taylor Made merchandise by discovering special symbols printed in the packages.

A wide range of point-of-sale materials, including banners, display wraps, inflatables, C-poles and neck riders will support the off-premise promotion.

"The 1999 Michelob Scramble promotion allows us to capitalize on the popularity of golf and build beer brand awareness among one of our key consumer audiences," said Prevost Foushee, director of the Michelob family, specialties and O'Doul's.

Rolling Rock Patronizes Art

LATROBE, Pa. -- Rolling Rock here is turning on summer with a poster art promotion called "Free Works of Art."

The promotion offers five original art posters featuring the legendary green bottle, as interpreted by some of America's hottest contemporary artists. Mail-in forms available on Rolling Rock 12-packs let consumers collect the full-size, full-color poster of their choice. Tear pads available at the point-of-sale also feature the offer. As an additional incentive, all orders are entered into a random sweepstakes for a chance to win a trip for two to the Louvre Museum in Paris.

Heineken, Austin Powers Team

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Heineken USA here is teaming up with the new hit movie "Austin Powers II: The Spy Who Shagged Me," for some "groovy" summer promotions.

The promotion will center on "Austin's Groovy Grab Bag," a catalog filled with 1960's "retro" products such as lava lamps, talking T-shirts, coaster sets, Heineken "red star" neons, pint glasses, temporary tattoos, mojo pendants and the Austin Powers video/soundtrack combo set.

Consumers can buy these items from an order form attached to the catalog, which will be available at Heineken displays that feature a life-size cardboard standee of Austin Powers and his co-stars.
