Tricon Now Bundling Concepts

n Global Restaurants Inc., based here, has unveiled a new prototype that combines all three quick-service restaurants it operates under a single roof.

Under the plan, Tricon's three concepts -- KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut -- would operate using a central kitchen serving each marquee. Customers will be able to eat inside a common dining room, shared by the three concepts, or purchase take-home items using a drive-thru system that utilizes double-stop windows -- one for payment and another for order delivery.

The triple-branding format expands on the company's earlier, successful dual-brand pairing of KFC and Taco Bell units. According to industry analysts, the new format will allow for new combination meals that include items from each concept.

Tricon was formed when PepsiCo, Purchase, N.Y., spun off its restaurant holdings in October 1997.
