Wyeth-Ayerst Expands Line

-Ayerst Laboratories here has expanded its Bonamil infant formula line with the introduction of ready-to-feed and concentrated liquid Bonamil, which is already available in powder form.

According to Wyeth-Ayerst, the liquid formula is priced 30% less than other leading formulas.

"With the new forms of Bonamil now available, we can meet the needs of more of our customers, including those parents who prefer liquid formula," said Ronald Saldarini, president of the company's Wyeth-Lederle Vaccines & Pediatrics division.

Gerber Introduces Fruit Bars

FREMONT, Mich. -- Gerber Products Co. here has added fruit bars to its Graduates line of products. According to the company, the fruit bars contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. They are available in two varieties: strawberry and apple cinnamon.

Gerber says the bars are specially shaped for little hands, and designed with soft textures to make them easier to chew and swallow.

Carnation Offers Soy Formulas

GLENDALE, Calif. -- Carnation Nutritional Products here has announced the national availability of its Alsoy and Follow-Up Soy baby formulas.

These new soy formulas are part of an acquisition from Mount Vernon Foods, and complement Carnation's Good Start and Follow-Up lines of milk-based baby formula products.

The Alsoy formula is available in powder, concentrate and ready-to-feed product forms.

The Follow-Up Soy is designed for babies 4 to 12 months who eat cereal and other baby foods, according to Carnation, which said this product provides 40% more calcium than average soy-based starter formulas. It is available in a 14-ounce powder product.

Binky-Griptight Adds New Line

WALLINGTON, N.J. -- To help celebrate its 70th anniversary, Binky-Griptight here has introduced Binkykids, a new upscale line of nipples, pacifiers, bottles, feeding items, rattles, teething toys and other accessories.

The Binkykids line consists of more than 30 products with coordinated colors and designs.

Key products include the Musical Pacifier, which plays three lullabies when in use; the Variable Flow Cup, which features three flow settings that adjust to meet the needs of the baby; and the Sof' Feed Spoon, which was designed to be gentle against babies' gums and flexible enough to fit into their mouths easily.

Maverick Markets Can Cover

ST. LOUIS -- Maverick Ventures here has introduced to the baby accessories market its Formula Saver, a baby formula can cover.

Until now, said Maverick, parents have used wraps and foils to seal unused formula in cans. With a suggested retail of two for $1.29, the company said, its caps provide a reasonably priced method to securely seal cans. The Formula Saver caps fit both large and small liquid formula cans, and come in blue and pink.
