everal leading supermarket chains have brought in the "Animal Crackups" line of children's videos packaged with a plush hand puppet, said Scott Barbour, president of Real Entertainment here.

Among them are Big Y Foods, Springfield, Mass.; Albertson's, Boise, Idaho; Quality Food Centers, Bellevue, Wash.; Gelson's Markets, Encino, Calif.; Grand Union Co., Wayne, N.J.; Tops Markets, Buffalo, N.Y; and Fred Meyer Inc., Portland, Ore.

The four-title line is packaged in a 12-unit display. A store check of a Finast (part of Tops) in the Cleveland area found that the shipper was selling down quickly within the first few weeks it was out.

All four titles have won the "Award of Excellence" for quality children's programming from the Film Advisory Board. The titles are "Funniest Animal Families," packaged with a tiger puppet; "Animals and Their People Friends," with a koala puppet; "Monkeys, Monkeys, Monkeys," with a monkey puppet; and "Weird, Wet and Wild," with a seal puppet.

Two more titles, "Best Friends," with a cheetah puppet, and "Animal TV," with a gopher puppet, will be released in 1998, said Barbour.
