Pepsi Tests Storm in Colorado
is testing a new lemon/lime soft drink here, with plans to go national if the test is successful, according to Jon Harris, a spokesman for Pepsi, Somers, N.Y.
Its new Storm soft drink is replacing Pepsi's lemon/lime Slice in Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo, Colo. The test began in mid-March and is scheduled to last through the summer.
Retailers in the marketplace have been supporting Storm with endcap displays and newspaper ads.
Storm also differentiates itself from the competition because it has added caffeine and less carbonation.
Ocean Spray Adds Sub-Brand
LAKEVILLE, Mass. -- Ocean Spray here has introduced a sub-brand called Wellfleet Farms, a line of 100% cranberry juice blends. The juice is available in 64-ounce containers in three flavors: Cranberry & Granny Smith Apple, Cranberry & Georgia Peach and Cranberry & Key Lime.
Northland Has New Size, Flavor
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. -- Northland Cranberries here has added a new size to its 100% cranberry juice blends. In addition to its 64-ounce bottle, Northland is offering a 46-ounce PET container. The 46-ounce sizes have a suggested retail price of $2.79.
In other news, Northland has debuted a new flavor: cranberry blackberry.
Canandaigua Sets Upscale Line
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. -- Canandaigua Wine Co. here has established a new premium wine division called Riverland Vineyards.
Based in Gonzales, Calif., Riverland Vineyards' first wine, shipping to stores this summer, will be Mystic Cliffs. The line's varietals include 1997 chardonnay, 1996 merlot and 1995 cabernet sauvignon.
Juicy Juice Concentrates Debut
GLENDALE, Calif. -- Nestle Beverage Co. here has introduced a line of Juicy Juice shelf-stable concentrates in six flavors.
Each 11.5-ounce can makes 48 ounces of juice drink. Juicy Juice concentrate is available in strawberry, berry, punch, apple, grape and cherry flavors. Nestle is suggesting retailers merchandise the cans on its gravity-fed display rack.
More Instants at Eight O'Clock
MONTVALE, N.J. -- Compass Foods, a division of A&P here, has added three new flavors to its Eight O'Clock Royale Internationale line of flavored instant coffees.
Competitively priced with a suggested retail price range of $3.19 to $3.39, the new flavors are English Toffee, White Chocolate and Irish Cream.
Summer Promotion to Surge
ATLANTA -- Coca-Cola Co. here announced a huge summer promotion for its Surge citrus soda that kicks off next month and runs through September.
Dubbed "Surge Around the World," the promotion includes a grand prize of 45 hours of flying time on a private fully loaded jet for six people. Other prizes include Nintendo Game Boy pocket games, a Surge compilation compact disc recording and 20-ounce bottles of Surge.
