"Rational Therapy: Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus" presents general information about the disease, three representative case studies and a comprehensive discussion of patient education.

Ninety percent of people with diabetes are classified as "non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus." The booklet is accredited through both the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education for pharmacists' continuing education.

Initiative Is Set on Diabetes

NORWALK, Conn. -- Six thousand cooperating pharmacies will participate in a marketing initiative, coordinated by Eucerin, to provide savings for people with diabetes. During November, national diabetes month, customers at participating pharmacies will find specially marked displays integrating frequently used diabetic care products, as well as educational material.

Shoppers will get coupons and discounts for the brands of participating partners, who include Beiersdorf, maker of the Eucerin skin care brand and Futuro's Curad bandages; Boehringer Mannheim Corp.'s Accu-Chek blood glucose monitoring systems; CanAm Care's Monolet lancets, syringes and glucose tablets; the Jenny Craig weight management program; Laclede Professional Product's Biotene toothpaste; Odyssey Nutriceutical Sciences, and R&D Laboratories' DiabeVite vitamins.
