amily Markets here plans to expand its Glatt kosher deli program to at least four stores by the end of this year, in response to a successful trial in its Huntington Valley, Pa., unit, according to company officials. Additional locations include a new store in Wynnewood, Pa., and two remodeled stores in Newton and St. Davids, Pa. By February, 2001, a new store in East Windsor, N.J., will be home to the fifth kosher program in the chain, they said. Glatt kosher delis require rabbinical supervision and special floor plans that keep fixtures and foods separated from the traditional deli.

Coffee Chain Introduces Food Menu

SEATTLE -- Tully's Coffee, based here, has begun offering gourmet salads and sandwiches in its downtown Seattle locations that are prepared daily and delivered by Briazz, another Seattle-based cafe that specializes in quick, healthy food service. Tully's, along with its specialty coffees, now offers a variety of Briazz breakfast sandwiches, as well as salads, and signature items like 'rustic slices,' which consist of sliced meats, lettuce and gourmet spreads on focaccia bread.

Furr's Restaurants Open New Concept

RICHARDSON, Texas -- Furr's Restaurant Group has opened a new restaurant concept, Furr's Family Buffet, in El Paso, Texas. According to officials, the 420-seat prototype is designed to a cross section of customers, and incorporates food court-type self-service bars, as well as table service with items that include tacos and pizza. Furr's -- once associated with the Albuquerque, N.M.-based supermarket retailer -- operates nearly 100 cafeterias and buffets under the Furr's and Bishop's names in 12 states.
