onsumer Care Division of the Bayer Corp. here has sold two of its brands -- Stri-Dex and Dairy Ease -- to Blistex, Oak Brook, Ill.

Stri-Dex is an acne treatment line and Dairy Ease is a food supplement designed to aid digestion for lactose intolerant consumers. According to Bayer, the sale of the two brands "is in line with a strategic plan focusing on maximizing growth and new business opportunities" in its core business. Among its major products are Bayer Aspirin, Alka-Seltzer and Actron, a new, ketoprofen-based painkiller. Bayer will continue to manufacture both products for Blistex at the division's Myerstown, Pa., production facilities.

Time Life Offers Medical Videos

NEW YORK -- Time Life Medical here has announced the national launch of a new medical information video series, "At Time of Diagnosis."

The videos, developed and produced by Patient Education Media, New York, under the supervision of former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, sell at a suggested retail of $19.95 each. The 30-minute titles are designed to help patients who have been recently diagnosed with a serious disease or medical condition, including coronary artery disease, prostate cancer and depression. Each comes with a 22-page personal workbook. At least 15 supermarket chains with pharmacies already have ordered titles in the series, according to Time Life. They include Fred Meyer, Smith's, Albertson's and selected Kroger units.

The tapes are hosted by Dr. C. Everett Koop and anchored by television journalists Linda Ellerbee, Mike Schneider, Boyd Matson and Carol Martin. The series, which currently features 30 videos, is expected to eventually include 70 titles.
