WaxWorks Sets Convention Speaker
Software Dealer's Association president Bo Andersen will be a keynote speaker at the WaxWorks Convention and Trade Show, Oct. 2 to 4, announced Kirk Kirkpatrick, vice president of marketing, WaxWorks/VideoWorks.
The event will be held at the Executive Inn and Convention Center here. The show is the largest distributor event in the nation, with over 100 vendors and 1200 retailers expected.
The convention theme is "Operation: Allied Forces" -- a tool to help retailers defend their territories. On the agenda are floor shows, seminars, entertainment, receptions, and sneak previews. In addition the distributor will stock a "duty-free PX" with VHS, DVD, Boutique, and Accessory specials.

A-Pix Joins Rentrak's PPT Revenue Share Network
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Rentrak, based here, added A-Pix Entertainment, New York, to its pay-per-transaction revenue share network, the companies jointly announced last week. The agreement begins with Rentrak offering A-Pix September titles, including "Drowning on Dry Land," a romance starring Barbara Hershey and Naveen Andrews, and "Molokai: The Story of 'Father Damien'," an adventure with Kris Kristofferson, Sam Neill, Derek Jacobi and Peter O'Toole.
Under the agreement, retailers may select individual titles, or they can take all of A-Pix's titles on an output basis with what the companies calls "exceptional" terms.
