NHL Chooses Ice Draft Beer
al Hockey League here has named Ice Draft from Budweiser as the Official Beer of the NHL.
The multiyear agreement with St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch was made effective this month and includes exclusive sponsorship rights and signs for Ice Draft, as well as the exclusive rights to use team logos in Ice Draft advertising, merchandising and point-of-sale materials. Anheuser-Busch also gains exclusive marketing rights to the NHL shield, All-Star Game logo and Stanley Cup logo.
The agreement allows Ice Draft to highlight team logos on store displays and provides exclusive use of the "official beer" title in all Ice Draft or Anheuser-Busch marketing and advertising campaigns in the United States.
RC Cola, Fox Team for Promo
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Royal Crown Co. here has teamed with the Fox television network for a special fall promotion that will tie in RC Cola with a special episode of the network's "Married . . . With Children" situation comedy.
As part of the promotion, 12-ounce cans, two-liter bottles and in-store point-of-sale displays will carry the likeness of the obnoxious, lovable slob, shoe salesman and former high school football star Al Bundy, played by actor Ed O'Neill. The promotion runs from Oct. 15 through Dec. 15, 1994, and includes spots on local Fox affiliates and radio stations.
An episode of "Married . . . With Children" specially created for the promotion will air on Nov. 13. It will feature a "dream team" of former National Football League greats. The episode ties into a contest for a fantasy trip to Hawaii to attend the NFL All-Star Pro Bowl Game with members of the "Al Bundy Team." To win, participants must list the name of a team member on an official entry form that will be available at retailers.
Royal Crown is the third-largest cola franchise company and fifth-largest soft drink company in the United States. It has 150 domestic and 79 international franchise bottlers.
