Hain Acquires Boston Popcorn
ain Food Group here announced that it acquired The Boston Popcorn Co. Details were not announced.
Boston Popcorn manufactures, markets and sells a line of popcorn products, low-fat potato chips and other snack items, with annual sales of approximately $7 million. Boston Popcorn is the originator of "Boston Lite," a low-fat popcorn in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
Hain also announced that Alan Liverman, former owner of the Boston Popcorn business, joined Hain as senior vice president of its snack foods division.
The Hain Food Group has eight key brands, including Hain Pure Foods, Estee sugar-free and fructose-sweetened products, and Kineret kosher foods.
Jack & Jill Offers New Flavors
BENSALEM, Penn. -- Jack & Jill Ice Cream Co. here has introduced new flavors of premium and non-fat ice cream in half gallons, their first sorbet in quarts, and bigger-bar frozen novelties for retail sale.
With this repositioning, the company is capitalizing on its strong heritage as "ice cream truck" ice cream. Some of the new products developed for the very "young at heart" are the classic ice cream sandwich, chocolate eclair bars and twin fudge sticks. Half gallon varieties are also available.
