Green Mountain Adds Cider
reen Mountain Cidery here has introduced Woodchuck Granny Smith Varietal Draft Cider, which it says is the first draft cider in the United States made exclusively from Granny Smith apples.
Woodchuck Granny Smith Varietal Draft Cider is available in all states except Oklahoma and Wyoming, and is packaged in 12- and 32-ounce green glass bottles, as well as half and full barrels. It is fermented with French champagne yeast for 45 days and is continually checked for quality during the aging process.
Dr Pepper Offers Penafiel Water
DALLAS -- Dr Pepper/Seven Up Co. here has brought Penafiel Mineral Waters to the United States.
Imported from Mexico, Penafiel is packaged in 12-ounce, authentic, proprietary glass bottles and is available in a plain sparkling mineral water as well as several flavors, including tangerine, strawberry and grapefruit.
Penafiel is currently being distributed in southern California and Texas, where large numbers of Mexican immigrants live. It is bottled at a spring deep in the heart of the Mexican mountains, which the Aztec Indians believed held medicinal properties.
Dr Pepper/Seven Up Co. is a division of British conglomerate Cadbury-Schweppes.
Blue Sky Adds to Product Line
SANTA FE, N.M. -- Blue Sky Natural Beverage Co. here has added several new products to its mix, including a bottled artesian well water.
Blue Sky has also added root beer, lemon ginger and very berry creme to its line of premium ginseng sodas. The value-added products have 200 ml of Chinese ginseng and an antioxidant vitamin formula of vitamins A, C and E.
The company has also introduced decorative 12-pack boxes of its natural cola and root beer, which it says is a first for the natural-food industry. The 12-packs are part of Blue Sky's ongoing promotional stack programs, allowing for attractive endcap and case stack displays.
Faygo Pops Open New Packages
DETROIT -- Faygo Beverages here has unveiled all new packaging of its products as part of the celebration of its 90th anniversary. The new packaging features bolder graphics and a more stylized logo.
Faygo has many events on tap to celebrate its 90th anniversary. This fall the company will publish a commemorative cookbook of winning recipes that were submitted to a Faygo cooking contest earlier this year. The cookbook will be available free with a proof of purchase.
Faygo currently produces a line of 43 different flavors of soda, or "pop" as it is called in the company's distribution area of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and western Pennsylvania.
Since 1987 Faygo has been a division of National Beverage Corp., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., which also counts Shasta among its brands.
Nora Teams With PowerBar
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Nora Beverages U.S.A. here, the importer of NAYA Canadian Natural Spring Water, has teamed up with PowerBar energy bars in a special offer that will last throughout the summer.
In the promotion 1.5-liter bottles of NAYA will sport neckhangers featuring a sample PowerBar (a "PowerBite") and coupons. At some key accounts, full-size PowerBars will be merchandised on NAYA rack displays. The in-store promotion will be supported with radio tags in several key markets.
