Publix Won't Accept Interlink Debit Cards

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Officials at Publix Super Markets said that starting Saturday, Oct. 13, they will no longer accept Visa's Interlink-brand debit cards.

Publix officials said they won't take these cards due to a 47% hike in fees Visa charges Publix for each transaction.

"We are taking this action with our customers' best interests in mind," said Publix spokesman Lee Brunson. "We will not pass on these unreasonable price increases to our customers." Publix will continue to accept payments from other debit cards.
