InnoPet Creates Pet Food Line
nnoPet Products Corp. here has developed a line of premium lifestage dog and cat foods exclusively for supermarkets.
The line will debut in 2,000 New York-area supermarkets this month with a dry dog food made from 100% lean meat. Canned dog food and dry and canned cat food will debut later this year as the line expands into other areas of the country. InnoPet had previously only been available through veterinarians by prescription.
The dry items are available in a patent-pending Nutri-Fresh package that consists of a large bag with smaller individual portion bags housed inside. Three different sizes of the large and inner bags are available depending on the size and eating habits of the animal.
The line will be priced at or below pet store premium brands.
Guiltless Gourmet Adds New Chip
AUSTIN, Texas -- Guiltless Gourmet here has introduced a low-fat baked potato chip. The chips, with 1.5 grams of fat per 1-ounce serving, are currently being tested in selected markets. A company spokeswoman said the manufacturer moved the baked potato chips from areas on the West Coast to the East Coast, working primarily with Whole Foods Market, Austin, Texas, and the Kroger Co., Cincinnati.
The chips will be available nationally in June. Retailers are pricing the 5-ounce metallic bags from $1.99 to $2.29. Twelve 5-ounce bags are packed in a case. Four flavors are available.
Nabisco Expands Snackwell's
PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- Nabisco Biscuit Co. here has added fudge-dipped granola bars and toaster pastries to its line of SnackWell's products.
SnackWell's Fudged Dipped Granola Bars are available in Fudge-Dipped Original, Caramel and Oatmeal Raisin flavors. The bars are available in packages of eight, with a suggested retail of $2.69.
SnackWell's Toaster Pastries are available in Iced Apple Cinnamon, Iced Blueberry, Iced Strawberry and Iced Fudge varieties. The toaster pastries are packed six to a box and have a suggested retail of $1.99. Each toaster pastry contains one gram of fat.
Lanzarotta's Private Label Grows
VAUGHAN, Ontario -- Lanzarotta Wholesale Grocers here launched the third phase of its Our Very Own private-label line, expanding it to 72 stockkeeping units.
The new products include five-fruit cocktail, concord grape cocktail, ginger ale, spring water, plum sauce, Soya sauce, butter, cheese slices and a line of upscale pizzas.
The pizza line is comprised of three flavors: three-cheese; Pepperonio and Provocative, a thin crust, wood-burning oven-style gourmet pizza with virgin olive oil, sundried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts and spinach.
Other additions include several sub-branded lines: Treasures of Tuscany balsamic sauce; Treasures of Tuscany balsamic vinaigrette; Treasures of Bologna red wine and mushroom cooking sauce; Los Alamos soft-flour tortilla shells; Los Alamos whole wheat tortilla shells, and Sun Spud potato chips.
Lipton Offering New Side Dishes
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. -- The Thomas J. Lipton Co. here is rounding out its pasta and rice side dishes with three additional varieties.
Lipton Pasta & Sauce Mild Cheddar Cheese features a radiatore pasta in a creamy cheddar cheese sauce. The two rice dishes are Lipton Rice & Sauce Teriyaki and Scampi Style. Each is a blend of rice and vermicelli with added seasonings.
