America's Second Harvest Issues Call for Donations
it has issued a national call to action to address the recent dramatic rise in the demand for hunger relief. The organization, which last year distributed 1.4 billion tons of food through its network of 200 regional food banks and food-rescue programs, said it will need to increase that amount by 365 million tons in 2002. Among the organizations supporting this year's anti-hunger campaign are the Food Marketing Institute, the Grocery Manufacturers of America and the National Grocers Association.
Albertsons.com Expands Into Oregon
BOISE, Idaho -- Albertson's here said last week it has expanded its online grocery service, Albertsons.com, into Oregon. The company said customers can choose to have groceries delivered to their home or pick up their groceries at 31 neighborhood stores in Oregon's Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties and Washington's Clark County.
